Sandburg Parking Garage

As I got closer and closer to campus, I realized that I did not have as many sounds as I would have liked to, so I decided to check out the parking garage at Sandburg. Before I even entered I heard some interesting sounds just outside of the drive-in entrance. Sandburg Parking Garage.

Fence, Plane, Bells, Cars

This sound was taken very close to the campus as i headed out for the second half of my drift. I heard a couple of interesting sounds going at the same time, so i stopped to record. The mics were just held in my hands facing upwards for this recording. Plane, Bells, Cars.

Rusty Chain

This sound also comes from an area very close to the first two sounds. The helicopter pad next to the staircase had a small parking lot. On the northern side of the lot there was a sort of gate that was open which had a rusty chain hanging on it. On mic faced the street and the other was attached to the chain. Rusty Chain Sound.

Random Metal Box

At the bottom of the staircase from the previous post, there was a weird metal box that looked like it ad been broken off of some sort of machinery. I decided that it might produce some interesting sounds. The scraping you hear is my hand, and so is the pounding near the end. This sound can be heard here: Metal Box.

Staircase, Sledders, Snow

This recording didn't occur until I was already about half-way done with my walk. I was just off of Water Tower Street on a staircase that descended next to what looked like a school field. A few kids and there parents were sledding there. The mics were placed on a fence just outside of this field. The result? Staircase, snow.

Drift Strategy

My drift one strategy basically consisted of walking a perimeter around the rectangular area that i box in on Google Maps. This area can be seen here. I started off after lunch at Jimmy John's on Oakland and headed south. My drift consisted of a rather interesting mix of residential and industrial areas. Relatively heavy traffic was present throughout, but that kind of thing is to be expected in Milwaukee, or any decent-sized city.
